Selecting an Attorney
Our attorneys have experience and expertise in many different areas of the law, and after you explain your legal matter, you will be referred to the attorney who is best qualified to handle your case. Each of our attorneys concentrates on specific areas of the law and pursues continuing legal education in his/her area of expertise. It’s this devotion to detail and enrichment that has led to several of our members being recognized as “super lawyers.”
The relationship between a client and his or her attorney requires complete trust, confidence, and confidentiality on the part of the attorney. Each of our clients is extremely important to us, and if you choose to retain us, we will keep you fully informed on the progress of your case.
We strive to handle our clients’ legal matters as economically and promptly as possible. In most cases, our fees are based on the time actually spent on your file, on the complexity of the work involved and the results achieved. Some work is undertaken on an hourly basis, and for other cases, a flat fee is appropriate. In many cases, we request a deposit. Before you decide to retain our firm, we will reach a clear understanding about the extent of the work we are authorized to do. We will discuss the types of legal work, the remedies and the alternatives required in your case, as well as the estimated time and expense involved.
Typically, our fees fall into one of two categories:
- Non-contingency fee matters: These include family law, criminal defense and wills, and estate planning.
- Contingent fee matters: These include personal injury, worker’s compensation and social security, and in these cases, no fee is required unless you receive a recovery. Our initial consultation is FREE.
You are only billed for fees and costs at the conclusion of the case, and those fees and costs are paid from the recovery; if no recovery, your only responsibility is to repay the costs.
We bill most of our clients on a monthly basis. If, as the work progresses, there are unexpected developments that require a longer time to complete your work, or greater expense than originally anticipated, we will inform you as soon as this is recognized.
